Health & well-being

Care that lets everyone focus on learning.

WISS maintains comprehensive policies to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our entire community — so students can focus on learning, teachers can focus on teaching, and parents can feel confident their children are in caring, capable hands.

Those policies are reviewed regularly and apply to every part of school life, from the classroom to the sports field and the school bus.

Child safeguarding

A responsibility we take seriously.

The Western International School of Shanghai fully recognises its moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of every child in its care.

WISS adheres to rigorous child-safeguarding standards that are sensitive to diverse cultural contexts. These standards align with local and international laws, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for every child.

Health care

Care on campus, every day.

Qualified nurses on site

On-site health care is provided by a team of qualified nurses who handle first aid and minor injuries and illnesses for both students and staff.

Keeping families informed

Families are contacted promptly whenever a child needs more than routine care, and medical records are kept confidential.

Questions about health and safeguarding?

Our school nurses and safeguarding lead are happy to talk through any concern.
