Supporting Students in the Classroom

Learning Support teachers collaborate with classroom and subject teachers through:

• In-class support and co-teaching
• Individual and small-group instruction when appropriate
• Differentiated and accessible learning experiences
• Explicit teaching of learning and executive-function skills
• Strategies that support attention, organization, reading, writing, and mathematics
• Collaboration with teachers, students, and families

Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)

When a student has identified learning needs, we create an Individual Learning Plan tailored to their profile. Each ILP is developed collaboratively with teachers and parents, and are reviewed regularly to ensure strategies remain effective and aligned with the student's growth.

Access, Inclusion, and Accommodations

Equitable learning does not always mean giving every student the same thing. It means providing students with the appropriate access they need to demonstrate their learning.

When students qualify for formal accommodations, WISS works with teachers and families to ensure these supports are implemented consistently across classroom learning and assessments.
